Lead Magnets That Actually Work: Why I Use Quizzes for Deeper Connection

Lead Magets that actually work - quiz

Let’s start here.

A lead magnet is simply something you offer in exchange for someone’s email.

But if we’re being honest?

That definition is a bit… surface level.

Because the real role of a lead magnet isn’t just to “grow your list.”

It’s to create a moment where someone feels:

“This is for me.”

And that’s where most lead magnets fall flat.

They give information…
But they don’t create connection.

What is a lead magnet (really)?

Yes — it can be a PDF, a guide, a checklist, a discount.

And I’m not against PDFs at all — they absolutely work.

But they’re one-directional.

You create it.
They consume it.
End of story.

A quiz changes that dynamic.

It becomes a conversation.

Instead of assuming what someone needs…
You meet them where they are.

What are the benefits of using a quiz?

This is where quizzes quietly outperform most traditional lead magnets.

Not because they’re flashy — but because they’re personalised.

A well-designed quiz allows you to:

– Guide someone to an outcome that actually fits them
– Understand who is in your audience (not just how many)
– Segment your email list naturally
– Create higher engagement (because people are involved, not passive)
– Build trust faster — because people feel seen

And from a business perspective?

You’re no longer speaking to “everyone.”

You’re speaking directly to the right person from the very beginning.

Why I use TryInteract

There are plenty of tools out there.

I chose TryInteract because it does what I need it to do — simply.

– It integrates easily with my email platform
– It allows proper segmentation (which is everything)
– It embeds cleanly into my website
– And it doesn’t require a tech degree to set up

They’ve recently shifted partners, which is what prompted me to revisit this — but the core reason I use it hasn’t changed.

It supports the way I work.

Which is always the goal. Plus they have a 14-day trial period.

The quizzes I use in my business

I don’t create things just to “have more content.”

Everything has a role.

What’s Your Brand Personality | Archetype?

This one is based on the 12 archetypes from Carl Jung.

It helps people understand how they naturally express themselves — especially in their brand. I’ve had it running for years and it still brings in leads daily.

Not a strategy.
Not a formula.

A reflection.

What’s Your Brand Energy Archetype?

This is the first layer into Human Design, if you haven’t run your chart yet..

Instead of personality, we’re looking at how your energy actually works.

How you make decisions
How you show up
What alignment looks like for you

This is where people tend to have those “oh…” moments.

The kind that shift things.

Why quizzes create deeper connection

Here’s the real difference.

A PDF says:
“Here’s what I know.”

A quiz says:
“Let me understand you first.”

That one shift changes how people experience your work.

And when someone feels understood?

You don’t need to convince them to stay.

How to build a quiz (without overcomplicating it)

This is where most people get stuck — thinking it has to be complex.

It doesn’t.

You can absolutely build a powerful quiz in a day when you keep it simple.

Here’s the process I recommend:

1. Start with the outcome

Before anything else, get clear on this:

What will someone know about themselves at the end?

Not what you want to teach.
What you want them to see.

2. Choose your result types

Most quizzes work best with 3–5 outcomes.

Think of these as:

– archetypes
– patterns
– energy types

Each result should feel distinct and recognisable.

3. Write questions that actually reveal something

This is the part that matters most.

Avoid surface-level questions.

Instead, ask things that uncover:

– behaviours
– tendencies
– decision-making patterns

You’re not testing knowledge.
You’re reflecting identity.

4. Map answers to results

Inside TryInteract, this is done through result correlations.

You’re essentially linking each answer to a specific outcome.

Keep it intuitive — it doesn’t need to be perfect.

5. Create meaningful results pages

This is where the value lands.

For each result, include:

– a clear explanation
– what it means for them
– where they may feel stuck
– and a gentle next step

This is your bridge into your offers, content, or deeper work.

6. Connect your email platform

This is where the magic happens behind the scenes.

Each result can trigger:

– different tags
– different email sequences
– different follow-up paths

So you’re not sending the same message to everyone.

7. Make it easy to share

Quizzes naturally invite sharing.

Set up simple sharing options so people can pass it on.

That’s organic growth — without forcing anything.

The real shift

This isn’t about choosing between a PDF or a quiz.

Both have their place.

But if your goal is to create:

– connection
– clarity
– and aligned clients

A quiz gives you a different entry point.

One that starts with them.

Not you.

Universe Magnetic Pull Energy

This isn’t about chasing attention.
It’s about creating something people are naturally drawn to.

If you’ve been thinking about creating one — this is your sign to keep it simple and just begin.

Or if you want to experience it for yourself first, you can explore mine and see what it reveals.

Because the right lead magnet doesn’t just grow your list.

It changes how people meet you.

Start simple. You can have this live faster than you think.
